SHIRTS THAT STANDS OUT CASUALLY.
Take for instance , you are invited to a party this weekend, outdoors and the dress code is Casual, nothing professional. Just food, drinks and fun. What should you wear? this is the time for you wear that casual shirt you have in your wardrobe and rock it. Well, today, we will be sharing with you some of the t-shirts that you should rock when you are in such circumstances and if you don't have one, go get it now. However, we will not be talking about all, we will discuss the first bunch today, then finish the rest on another day. Outlined below are some of the casual shirts that you need to include on your wardrobe staple:

  • Denim Casual Shirt. 
Durable and versatile, you can wear a denim shirt as part of a layered outfit or a stand alone outfit. When it comes to casual shirts for men, denim is up there with the best of them. The light and textured material makes it perfect for toning any outfit down, while maintaining a sense of style. Attaching some thick denim material on top of your casual t-shirt is a great way to casually layer outfit and adds some new dimensions to it. Pair your top with some black skinny jeans to create uniformity within the look. To layer your outfit, get your hands on some light weight outer wear to go over your shirt. You cam accessorize it with a bowler hat and a pair of Fenty open shoes for an easy breezy look, or alternatively finish it up with  a heavy duty black boots.
  • African Shirt.
Your passion for African prints doesn't mean that you have to be printed everywhere from head to toe. Having hints of prints here and there dresses up your casual looks. Overdoing it makes it look boring. To make it cool, try incorporating it in doses to complement your look instead keep the other clothes very subtle too avoid clashing into many prints.

STYLE WITH ALPHY'S CAUSE

HELP IAN GET TREATMENT.
Style With Alphy is a Blog with a Cause. It is a fashion blog/company that is conscious about creating awareness on social issues that affects the society. It provides for us a platform that brings people together and enable us to address and deal with such issue, through this,we are able to give back to the society in every capacity that we can. We are so conscious about giving back to the society because its the society that has molded us to be where we are and to be who we are today. That is why we always find ways to tackle issues that affects our society.
 
This month, our main Cause is to 'Help Ian Kibet get treatment' . Ian Kibet is the son to Mr Emmanuel Suwai and Ms Lilly Suwai Bett. Ian is suffering from a disease call 'Autism'. He is scheduled to undergo stem cell therapy in India at a cost of 1.5million on 7th November 2017. 
 
Autism is a neuron-developmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction, impaired verbal and non-verbal communication and restricted and repetitive behavior. Parents usually notice signs in the first two years of their child's life. The timing and severity of autism's first symptoms can vary widely. Some children of autism show hints of future problems within the first few months of life. Some children  with Autism appear to develop normally until around 18 to 24 months of age and then stop gaining new skills and start loosing skills. The symptom of this disease include:
  • Avoids eye contact and prefers to be alone.
  • Struggles with understanding other people's feeling.
  • Remains non-verbal or has delaying language development.
  • Repeats words or phrase over and over.
  • Gets upset by minor changes in routines or surroundings.
  • Has highly restricted interests.
  • Performs repetitive behaviors such as flapping, rocking or spinning.
  • Has unusual and often intense reactions to sounds, smell, tastes, textures, lights or colors.
We are launching this movement so as to help Ian travel to India and get treatment. We are inviting you all to join the movement and help save a child's life. When we come together, we can work had in hand and conquer this enemy called ,Autism. Ian is scheduled to travel to undergo stem cell therapy but unfortunately the amount is too high. His parents have organized an Harambee that will take place on 6th October 2017, in Wagon Hotel, Eldoret from 4.00p.m. As a Blog, we want to support Ian by creating awareness on his situation, we are dealing with it as a Cause. We humbly invite you to join the movement and be part of 'Style With Alphy's Cause'.

GET INSPIRED

ONE ON ONE WITH DAVID WONDER.
At just 21 years, David Wonder makes headlines after collaborating with one of the biggest names in the gospel industry, BAHATI, and they recently dropped a new music called 'NDOGO NDOGO'. He opens up to us on his journey so far and some of his future plans in the industry. 

Tell us about yourself?
David Wonder is a saved artist, gospel singer if i may say, who is signed under E.M.B record owned by Bahati. I grew up in Kariobangi which i am very proud of it up to date, taught me a lot and God saw me through all that the ghetto had to offer because he had a good plan for my life, a purpose even i could not escape, the bible says 'He knew us even before we were formed in our mothers wombs'.

What were you doing before venturing into music?
 Well, i was into music before in a boy band but things  did not work out so we broke the group and everyone went their way, after that life really hit me hard mpaka nikarudii up country. I stayed for a while but my passion for music couldn't allow me to stay there forever and so i decided to come back to Nairobi and chase the dream a fresh as a solo artist this time around. And so i came back and looked for a job since there was no way i could survive on this big city. So i got a job as a beautician in a local salon, as time went, i found myself falling in love with the job. Then i heard about E.M.B which was headed by Bahati, and so i started looking for him. It was not easy, but i believe that God made it possible.

How did you manage to meet up with Bahati?
As i said earlier, it was not easy but after a couple of texts, emails and unanswered calls, he finally answered my call that's why i said, God made it.

When you were starting, did you expect all this Fame that came along?
Haha if i may confess something, i don't think i am even anywhere yet, if i lay my entire vision before you, it will shake you. So all this has not moved me a bit and that is why i am pushing even harder, God did not give me this gift for me to fail him, so its all the way to international level, so help me God.

How do you feel about your career so far?
I am so humbled, for someone from Upcountry to just rise up to be a national hit humbles me sana. 

What are some of your future plans?
I have so much plans that i would like ti reveal them one by one as time goes by but as of now, i would just tell guys to just watch this space and support me in every way they can. Supporting me doesn't mean that they send me and Mpesa haha, by praying for me, requesting for my songs kwa shows  , attending my gigs, following me on social media e.t.c.

Who do you look up to?
Bahati and Mr Seed. I love Bahati's  commitments to works of ministry and i love Mr Seed's energy especially on stage.

What is your biggest achievement so far?
The song 'NDOGO NDOGO'.

Do you face any challenges?
There is too much judgement in the gospel industry, people want to see an angel if you are a gospel artist of which its hard, the bible says that we have all sinned and fallen short of Gods glory, nut we are always to point fingers forgetting that we all sin differently.Another challenge is Finances, i am not yet there, so am still struggling to reach there.

What is your word of encouragement to people who look up to you?
Depend on God fully, nothing is impossible.

DEFINING SMART CASUAL FOR MEN.
Smart casual has for sometime been misunderstood not only in the women's fashion, but men's too. Fashion trends have now proven that getting smart casual right wills set you free from traditional rules of a full oversized suit that can make one look out of place. Smart casual has been associated for weekends especially Friday for white collar job as well as business people. This is when men will wear their jeans and T-shirts at work and are allowed to get away with it. However, what happens when your too dressed down, for instance in a T-shirt and sneakers and a pair of rugged jeans, then the boos calls for an important meeting staff? Men, always remember its considered smart to be appropriate in a relatively formal situation yet stylish enough to make you look great down at a path. Women will not tell you but her man showing up at the club on a Friday evening will make her feel out of place, considering women have found their smart casual in fancy below the knee dress that can pass as perfectly in the office as they do at the club on Friday night. Men, it is therefore important to find a perfect balance for a smart casual no matter the occasion. Here is how:

  
a) Jacket.
A blazer is a safe bet, jacket wise. However, please note that there is a big difference between an official blazer and a casual blazer.An official blazer is one from a full suit while a casual blazer is made specifically for a casual look. Avoid using the full sized suit blazer and choose one that you wouldn't wear at work.

b) Trouser.
When it comes to smart casual, what you wear on your legs will vary according to what is in top. Remember jeans are fine as long as they are dark, clean , up free and well-fitting.
  
c) T-shirt.
A bright colored cotton t-shirt is ideal depending on the color of the trousers. Keep the t-shirt as plain as possible.

d) The shoes.
The shoes is probably the most important part of an outfit in terms of defining just how good it is. Ideally, try a pair of either leather boots with a rounded toe or simple canvas shoe.

Finally, there are important rules of pretty much any outfit. Polish, brush or clean your shoes, iron your shirt and see if your jacket is complemented by a pocket square.  It might seem like a bit of an effort, but when it comes to subtle smart casual look, these little flourishes have a lasting impression.

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT.
Introduction...
Many people today are ashamed of their weights especially ladies always wants to maintain a slim weight so as to keep their figures. What people don't know is that fat or extra weights is not only brought about as a result of eating to much food, but also by their kind of lifestyle. If you wants to maintain a good and sizeable weight, then their are some proper guidelines that you are supposed to follow. Forget the short cuts, many usually opt to go for surgery so as to drain out their body fats, not considering the effect that it may have to them in the coming years. The key of keeping weight off a diet is incorporating habits of sound nutrition, regular exercise and reasonable expectations that you can stick to a life time. Below are proper tips and tricks for weight management:

  1. Have a healthy eating game plan: A variety of foods are important to a healthful diet and peak performance. Make  sure to include dairy or other calcium rich foods, fruits, vegetables,whole grains and lean protein food in everyday eating and at each meal. Load up half your plate with fruits and veggies and you ll naturally downgrade the calories impact. Remember, a balanced diet not only offers up necessary nutrition, it also may help you feel more satisfied.
  2. Step on the scale every week: Step on the scale at least every week so as to monitor your progress to check where and how you can improve.
  3. Limit eating out and drinking alcohol: Alcohol is not only rich in calories, ethanol stimulates your appetite. It chips at your resolve to eat healthy and heighten the desire for high calories pleasurable food.
  4. Loose the weight the right way: There are many ways of loosing weight quickly that is not properly advised by medical practitioners. Most people tend to go for this ways which may have negative impact. Some of it include: Skipping meals, using drugs and pills, smoking, over exercising e.t.c.
  5. Limit TV viewing to not more than 16 hours in a week: The TV subconsciously boost hunger and in addition most people who watch television also do so while mindlessly munching high calories snacks.
  6. Eat a protein rich breakfast: Always start with a good breakfast to avoid splurging or over reacting on special occasions.   
  7. Exercise at least an hour in a day: Exercise plays a big role in maintaining a proper weight. The more you exercise, the more calories you burn . In addition, the more muscle you develop, the higher the metabolic rate becomes, so you burn more calories even when not exercising.
  8. Always drink water after every meal. Water plays an important role in dieting and weight management. The process of burning calories requires an adequate supply of water in order to function efficiently and water also helps the body metabolize and burn fat.
We urge you to maintain a proper weight so as to live a long healthy life. There are some diseases accompanied as a result of OBESITY. Some of it include:
  • Heart disease and stroke.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Diabetes.
  • Some Cancers.
  • Gall bladder disease and gallstones.

BASEBALL CAPS.

Gone are the days when Baseball caps were just for laborers and sports people. The baseball cap has emerged as a power house among st hats evolving from a sports accessory to a universally accepted part of our casual wardrobe. The trend had disappeared but it has now re emerged. They are super trendy plus act as a good cover up especially during the sunny weather. We wear base ball caps to make a statement, to show an allegiance, to shade our eyes from the sun, to look and feel sporty or hip, and above all, to be part of something larger than ourselves. This caps has been adopted by virtually every social stratum in the country, from disaffected teens to celebrities to software moguls to middle aged , middle class moms and dads to retirees. FOOD REVIEW.
Food is an important factor in our body, we can only survive with food because it provides for us energy that keeps us moving. As a blog, we shall be reviewing and sharing different recipes for different types of food so as to keep our viewers updated on proper ways to survive with good diet. Today on our blog, our very own Lakiesha Njoki will be sharing with us a recipe for Red Velvet Cake that is usually served as a Desert. She will be also explaining to us why Desert is an important course in our diet by outlining some of its benefits. Today, we are guiding you on how to style well on the inside, so as to look good on the outside.


Recipe for Red Velvet Cake
Ingredients.
  • Flour -750g
  • Sugar-750g
  • Cocoa powder.
  • Salt- 1 tablespoon
  • Milk-500ml
  • Eggs-6
  • Red food color.
  • Vinegar-500ml
  • Vanilla essence. 
Procedure.
  • Mix oil and sugar using a mixer.
  • Add eggs and vanilla essence together with the food color.
  • Later, add the vinegar.
  • Mix flour, cocoa, powder and salt together with the baking powder.
  • Mix both mixtures and bake it @170 degrees Celsius. 
Above is the recipe for a Red Velvet Cake. Cakes a times are not considered to be healthy because it has a lot of sugar which destroys our teeth, but on the other hand, it is usually taken as desert. Desert includes a lot of things such as Ice cream, fruits, cakes, dark chocolate etc.

The tradition of eating a desert after a meal is being followed by many cultures across the globe. This detectable dish served at the end of dinner signifies completion of meal and creates sense of goodness in you. Some of its benefits includes:
  • Deserts aids in digestion.
  • It adds extra vitamins and fibers to your diet.

  • Reduces blood pressure.
  • It balances hormones in the body.
  • It acts as an anti-depressant.
