STYLE WITH ALPHY'S CAUSE

REST IN PEACE TRIBALISM
STYLE WITH ALPHY is a fashion company that is conscious about creating awareness on social issues that affects our community. Style With Alphy provides a platform that brings people together to address and deal with such issues. This month, in conjunction with Vijana Bila Ukabila, we organized a peaceful campaign whose main objective was to create awareness on peace and national cohesion among the youth and politician.

No country can ever progress economically, socially and politically without peace. There will always be voices heard in the land expressing opposition without alternative, perceiving gloom on every side, finding faults without favor and seeking influence without responsibility. Those voices are inevitable.

But today on the same land there are voices that have raised doctrines unrelated to reality, which apparently believes that victory can suffice without weapons, different tribes are a blessing of different cultures not a curse of political affiliations and peace is a sign of strength.

The strength will never be used in pursuit of aggressive ambitions; it will always be used in pursuit of PEACE. It will never be used to promote provocations; it will be used  to promote peaceful settlement of dispute.

We dubbed our campaign awareness R.I.P TRIBALISM that was meant to create awareness on peace and national cohesion as we approach the general elections. As a country, we have always had a bad history of violence mostly instigated by our leaders. In 2007, the main community that was affected was the KIKUYU community just because of allegations that the elections were rigged by  a Kikuyu leader. A lot of people died during the P.E.V and others were displaced from their community. We wouldn't want a repeat pf what happened in 2007.

The root cause of almost all the problems that we face as a country is TRIBALISM. Once we bury this enemy, we will have made a huge step in solving part of it. Whether you are a Luo, Luyha, Nandi, Kamba etc, the fact still remains that you are a Kenyan and you belong to Kenya. This is our home, and it is where we belong. If we destroy it, where will we go to?  and that is why our main theme of the event was REST IN PEACE TRIBALISM. Our main focus on this day was to kill this enemy, bury and forget all about it. That is why we used a symbol of a Casket to symbolize the end of TRIBALISM error in our country. We always believe that once someone dies and is buried, he or she never comes back, and the same applied to the end of TRIBALISM in our country. We should not hate each other, kill each other or allow ourselves to be divided because of our tribal differences.

Our Campaign Trail covered part of Eldoret town and its environs. We had a peaceful procession around the streets of Eldoret where our youths were dressed in black T-shirt typed R.I.P TRIBALISM at the front and  NINA KABILA LAKINI SINA UKABILA at the back.We used a coffin and a cross as a sign of end of tribalism in our town.

This is a second cause that we have dealt with as a Blog. We realized that without peace, either us or other people out there can achieve their desired dreams and goals that they  have set for the future. Hence forth, STYLE WITH ALPHY will be working hand in hand with VIJANA BILA UKABILA to preach the message of peace across our county and country to ensure that we are living in a peaceful and non_tribal Kenya. We will be organizing more events together even after elections. Everyone is invited to join us on board because Kenya is bigger than all of us. Our forefathers didn't fight for us so us to come here and hate one another. Let us all maintain Peace, Love and Unity as we approach the general elections.

We would love to Thank God for making this initiative a success. We also appreciate VIJANA BILA UKABILA'S team led by Steve Oduor and Julie Korir for partnering with us to make this initiative a success. We also appreciate Uwiano, Paramount Bank, CITAM church, STANDARD MEDIA GROUP, The Genesis Family for all their support and effort in making this initiative a success. Also Noel Ilagosa, Lakiesha Njoki, Caleb Tugi and every person who played  a role in this peace initiative. May God Bless you all abundantly.

From STYLE WITH ALPHY'S team, we urge you all to maintain PEACE, LOVE AND UNITY as we approach the general elections. Thank you and may God bless you all.

Every great DREAM begins with a DREAMER and a person who has the strength, the patience  and the passion to reach for for the stars so as to change the world. Well, Boniface Odhiambo is just close to prove this statement right. He might not be there yet, but his determination, sweat and hard work in what he does can tell that he is almost there. As an ARTIST, he is putting his best to reach for his dream and goals. He sat down with  Elvis Alphy and opened to him about his journey so far in the industry and also where he sees himself in the near future.

So first things first, tell our viewers about yourself?
My name is Boniface O. Odhiambo, i am 20 years old. I live in Eldoret town and am a fine artist. Am the forth born from a family of six. I enjoy swimming and playing tennis.

When did you discover your talent  in Drawing or rather, when did you start drawing?
I have been drawing ever since i was in primary school, as i progressed, the passion grew more and more until i got to high school and decided to take it more serious.

What has always driven you to draw?
Most if the time, art has been like my therapy. When i am undergoing difficult situation or when i am depressed i just pick a pen and paper and draw whatever thing that comes to my head. But not at all times, I believe in art so much, there is just this special connection between us that i can't really start explaining but to me Art is the Food for my Soul.

What has always inspired you to draw?
Hmm, i  can't really tell but to be honest, the environment is what inspires me to draw and also for the love that i have for arts.

Okay, Briefly tell us how your journey has been so far since you started?
I must say, the journey has not been easy. The going has been tough. At first, it was so hard for me to find a mentor who could inspire me and guide me before joining this industry. You just don't jump into a new field without seeking help from the players who have been in that field you want to join. Without clear guidelines and assistance, one can really really mess up. Eventually, i met Carolly Arts online who inspired me to start with what i have.. Also, marketing my brand was so hard for me. It reached a point that i almost gave up everything that i had. So am slowly progressing and clearing the obstacles that are on my way. Slowly by Slowly, I will reach there.

Do you have any plans of pursuing  ARTS as a serious career?
Yes, I plan to pursue it as a serious career. I am currently looking forward to join B.I.F.A ( Buruburu Institute Of  Fine Arts) which will greatly improve my skill in Drawing.

Wow, that's great. Has Social Media played a positive role in your work?
Yes, social media has been one of the most influential factor in my work.It has really helped me when it comes to marketing. Also, i usually met most of my clients through Facebook and Instagram.

So, i bet you have that person who you really look up to?
Yes, I have. Carolly Arts who inspired me to start drawing and Picasso. I really look up to Carolly Arts, he is so successful but has the same story like mine, so when i pass through this challenges in my day to day life as an artist, i think of Carolly and know that all will be well.

Apart from drawing, do you have any other hidden talents?
HaHa, i cant call it hidden talents. But i also Dance and Play guitar.

Haha, talk of being Multi Talented, Any way am sure your parents are proud of what you are doing?
Yeah, they are. Come on, without them, could i be here. They are my biggest supporters. They really love what i do.

Do you earn from what you do?
Yeah, i pay rent from this. HEHE!!!!!

OH, That is so great, How much do you charge per drawing?
I usually charge as low as 500sh but it depends with the sizes and the quality of the drawing.

What plans do you have for the future?
I want to learn all forms of arts and even explore the world and get more and more deeper into arts.

Good stuff, What is your biggest achievement so far?
I don't know what i have in mind can be considered an achievement.

Haha, what is that you have? It depends with what you have achieved so far.
Okay, To me Drawing someone with ease and confidence is one of my biggest achievement so far.

STYLE FIX

STREET STYLE/CASUAL.
INTRODUCTION.
Street Fashion or Street style is believed to have emerged from grassroots street wear. It is mostly associated  with youth culture and is mostly seen in major urban center. They are best worn while away from work or school and busy running errands in the streets. I mean, you can rock an official outfit an go do personal stuff on a weekend, office looks are strictly for office work, business meetings etc. The good thing about street style is that it can suit any season whether it is summer or winter. As a teenager, you don't have to try so hard, your still young and you don't have to take fashion too seriously. Its time for you to have some little fun.
Guys, here are some little guidelines that will be of help to you on your day to day street looks :

1. DENIM ON DENIM.
Denim is one of the trends that never fades away from the fashion light. The good thing about it is that it can be revamped in any kind of way. This look just needs a little styling everyday. It can be worn at any time of the day and during any season whether its hot or cold. Double denim is a tricky trend to pull off but when it is done correctly, it can be one of the most flattering and most stylish men's wear staple you can wear. When pulling off this look, keep your denim light and relatively in the same shade as you don't want to go overboard. Pair your denim jacket and jeans with a simple white T_shirt and trainers as this will allow the rest of your outfit to speak for itself. It is one of the looks that you can rock at any where without any doubts.

2. SWEAT SHIRTS WITH JEANS.
Any look can be uplifted completely if you throw up a bold  color on it. Such color include Blue, Yellow, Orange etc. The bold color brings out a lot of confidence in your look. This look is best worn during summer season because bright colored outfits don't trap a lot of heat.
3. DENIM IS AN ACCESSORY.
As stated earlier, Denim is one of the trends that never fades away from the Fashion spotlight. It can be worn by both boys and girls, men and women by just going out of the norm and trying to revamp it in any different kind of style. It is one of the best outfits that you can consider for your street look because its light and can also keep you warm during the cold season. It can be used as an accessory  by breaking your all white look so as to bring out an easy breezy look that can suit best during the summer season.

4.SNOOD T_SHIRTS AND JEANS.
Snood T_shirts are best worn during the cold season because the scarf helps to keep your ears, head and neck warm. What is special about this kind of t_shirt is that it has an extra fabric on it that is designed to be worn over the head like a hood. It is extremely versatile and can be worn with almost every of your fall winter clothes. Match it with a good fitted jeans so as to perfectly balance with the chunky bulk of the snood scarf on top. Guys, this kind of look is not so bad during those random outings during the winter falls. Make sure to pair it with an appropriate kind of shoes. It can be worn with Basic sneakers such as converse, Classic sports sneakers  and also Chelsea boots.

5.CAMOUFLAGE SHORTS.
Today, its mot only the army who can rock the camo style, the trend is dominating today's trend and it can be worn by anyone anywhere. This style is definitely not for everyone but if you can pull it, then you should consider going for it. It may seems like a risky idea but it can work particularly well when teamed with darker shades through out the rest on the outfit. Printed shorts will require bigger leap of faith from you but again, they are easy to style.  Layer it with a perfect top and shoes and your good to go.
