STYLE WITH ALPHY'S MENTOR SHIP PROGRAM .
Under this segment, as part of our initiative in empowering the youths, we have started an online mentor ship program that will focus on helping the youths reach out for their goal by guiding them on how they can start pursuing them. Most of the time, I personally receive a lot of messages from my fellow youths inquiring how i started doing what am doing to be where i am, and i thought it wise to use my platform to also help them start up by sharing some of my experience and tips with them.

Over the past, most of the questions that I receive through my Inboks  is:
  • How did you start?
  • How did you do it?
  • What inspired you?
Above are just but among of the questions that i have been receiving. So that's the topic that we will begin with today.
TOPIC:  HOW TO START CHASING YOUR GOAL.
Everyone has a dream and a goal that they want to achieve in life but the question is, how do they go about it? As part of our initiative in empowering the youths, we have started an online mentor ship program that will guide the youths on how they can start chasing for their goals. We will be having a weekly online engagements with the youths, sample down their thoughts and opinions then discuss them through our online platform. So am going to explain this based on my own point of view and how i did it to where i am.
So our first topic of discussion today is focused on how the youths can start chasing their dreams. The first step is to:
  • Discover where your passion lies: Before anything, you should first realize where your passion is, what is that that you really love doing? once you figure out , then you are good to go. There is nothing bad than doing something that you don't love, you will never have interest in it,neither will you even find time to do it, hence wasting your energy on it. Find out that is it that your heart desires, that gift that God gave you and utilize it to the fullest and trust me, the results will be good.Even when you face any challenge, you won't give up because your mind will be focused on the end results and you will even work extra hard on it.
  •  Find a platform: After discovering where your passion lies, find a platform through  which you can use to build and develop your idea, whether its Fashion, Music, Art, Business, Dance, Football e.t.c. My advise is that you is to utilize Social Media very well, it is one of the best platform that you can use to build and grow your talent and brand. Whether you are a musician, poet, dancer, fashion blogger/stylist, a ,Model e.t.c, open a Facebook, Instagram and a twitter page and start marketing yourself by exposing your ideas, services and other things that you would want people to know about you. Now they say that a journey of a thousand miles starts with one single step, so when you see one or two people just liking, sharing and commenting your posts, do not be disappointed or heartbroken, you should be happy that at least someone has seen what you do. Social media is not the only platform that you can use to market yourself, no, there are so many of them. If you are a dancer, a poet, a musician, or an actors, attend different shows around you and request for an opportunity to perform, even if you won't be paid, but at least you will be given a platform to perform and you never know where you luck will come through. A platform can also be through the Television, Radio and newspapers, personally that is what i do, i always apply for this opportunities to tell people about myself, what i do e.t.c. Find them through social media, get their emails, apply for a platform, pray to God, and you will be called for an opportunity to talk to the public about yourself. Well, i may not be able to mention all the platforms but i know you know how you can get them. But for the once have listed above, put them into consideration.
So for today, i would love you all to do the two things that have mentioned above, Discover your passion and Find a platform i.e social media. Then next week, we will continue with the next steps, as i said earlier, i will do this based on my own point of view but if you would love to be part of this program, do not hesitate to join by just forwarding your questions, views and opinions through our social media platforms:
  • Facebook: Style With Alphy
  • Instagram: @stylewithalphy
  • Twitter: @stylewith_alphy
and we will sample them during our next discussion. Please, if you receive this, kindly share it with friends, you never know who it will help out there.
Meanwhile, keep Styling With Alphy, keep Inspiring.

CHRISTMAS EDITION.
What Men should be wearing this Christmas.
Struggling to find something to wear for the work Christmas party? Don’t panic because whatever your office dress code, the festive period is an excellent opportunity to go all out and dress smart. This simple guide will show you how to dress to impress this year without looking out of place.

What to Wear to a Formal Christmas Party.

The struggles of the Christmas party roll around each year, along with the regret and embarrassment of rocking up to the office worrying about what you did in a drunken state the night before. But before all of this, you need to decide what you’re going to wear to the actual event. If you work in a casual dressed office then you won’t be used to wearing a suit every day, so why not go for it and wear one at the Christmas party. This is a great time to show off and experiment with a smart, professional outfit that you don’t usually get to wear.
You don’t have to go full on tux (unless that’s required obviously) but you can go for something that’s still smart. A simple navy two piece suit will work well, or if you still want to tone it down a bit more, get rid of the blazer and swap it for a casual jacket.

Smart Casual Dress For The Work Christmas Party

If you don’t want to wear a full two piece suit to your work festivities then you may still be asking yourself ‘what should I wear to my Christmas party?’ This festival bash is the perfect opportunity to showcase your true style. You can show a bit of personality and mix together your favourite smart casual pieces. Try balancing the more formal aspects of your look with some more relaxed pieces like a crew neck jumper and trainers. A good knitted jumper layered over a casual plain shirt instantly adds a smart casual vibe to your outfit.

Sprucing up a Casual Look

If you feel like going a little bit smarter than your usual attire then simply editing you’re casual looks a little will do the job quickly and easily. You’ll be able to go from office attire to night out with only a few added pieces. There will inevitably be a few work places where going for the complete smart approach may make you look like you’re trying too hard. So if you know that most of the crowd is going to be casual, you might want to replace your smarter shoes with chukka boots and the blazer for a jumper and casual jacket.
When it comes to colour, don’t be afraid to add some interest to your outfit. It doesn’t have to be a huge amount or anything that’s too in your face, but simply going for a pink shirt instead of white or a lightly coloured jumper instead of the standard black and grey is a way to brighten up your look.

Men’s Xmas Outfits

If you’re still unsure on what to wear to your company Christmas party, then sticking to a low-key smart casual outfit is the safest option. To help you decide on what pieces you actually need, we’ve split up each part so you can find the one that suits you and your environment best.

  • Shirts

When going to a formal Christmas party, a good shirt is a great base layer for pretty much any outfit, meaning the shirt is probably the most important part of your look. Depending on the level of formality, you can adjust the colours and patterns to suit the time, place and situation. For instance, a crisp white dress shirt will work perfectly in a black tie scenario, whereas a bright check shirt will be better for more festive smart casual ensemble

    Jumpers.

Funnily enough, at Christmas parties it’s going to be cold outside. Therefore, as well as looking stylish, it’s important to wear an outfit that keeps you warm and is weather appropriate. The easiest way to achieve this, is by layering your clothes with things like jumpers and jackets. A good bit of knitwear works perfectly with formal shirts, and can be worn in many different ways. Whether you’re going festive with a Christmas jumper (no big logos or puns though please), or keeping it low-key with a simple grey crew neck jumper, this is a must have for any party.

    Trouser.

When it comes to trousers, you should go for either jeans, chinos, or suit pants. Deciding which ones best will entirely depend on where you’re going and how smart you want to go. Although jeans are typically a more casual item of clothing, if the event isn’t particularly traditional then you can get away with it. Also, black denim can still appear extremely stylish without becoming too relaxed. You can wear your jeans with a smart shirt and jumper and you’ll have the ideal smart casual outfit. However, if the party’s got more of a formal vibe then stick with some dark chinos or suit trousers.

    Coats and Jackets

Much like a jumper, wearing a jacket or coat to a Christmas party is as much of a necessity as it is a style option. And because this will most likely be seen the most, it’s important to make sure it looks good and matches the tone of what you’re wearing. For instance, if you’re wearing a formal ensemble, then wearing a monochrome overcoat will work perfectly. On the other hand, for a more casual outfit, try wearing a bomber or Harrington jacket.

    Looking Festive

If you feel there’s going to be more of a festive theme beyond merely getting pissed, then you might want to consider giving your outfit a slight festive theme. We don’t mean go all out Santa and his Elvs, but you could experiment with the richer tones of Christmas by wearing shades of green and red. You can also give light green and dark blue a go and pair with some smart black jeans and shoes.
Contrary to popular belief, there are also some decent Christmas jumpers out there. Avoid the reindeer stitch up your mum bought you a few years back and play to a good contrasting fair isle pattern. Since Christmas jumpers often have fairly loud patterns, it’s best to wear neutral, muted colours elsewhere.

How to Dress Smart for the Work Christmas Party

    • For a proper formal look, a black tie outfit is the best and smartest option. Check the dress code before wearing this or you could look out of place.
    • Try wearing some colourful jumpers and less formal shoes for a smart casual look that works well in many different party situations. This is probably the most versatile style.
    • You don’t just have to stick to trousers, chinos and a smart pair of jeans will also work well.
    • Layering is important during the Christmas period. Get yourself a coat that matches the aesthetic of your outfit and keeps you warm at the same time.

LIFE AND STYLE

CHRISTMAS EDITION.
10 WAYS TO HAVE A HEALTHIER CHRISTMAS.
Christmas is notoriously a time to indulge, but don’t let this be the green light to overindulge! You can still enjoy all the festivities of the season and get through the Christmas period without too much impact on your health and waistline. Try our top 10 tips for a healthier Christmas.

1.Don’t sit down all day

We know every Christmas special under the sun will be showing on the TV, but you don’t need to plonk yourself on the sofa all day! Encourage the whole family to get out for a walk at some point – ideally, after dinner to aid digestion. The more activity, the better, so take along any new outdoor gifts, like bikes, scooters, footballs or Frisbee's, or play old-fashioned games.

2.Go easy on the booze

If you are firmly ensconced at home over the festive period, those alcohol units can really mount up. Mulled wine on Christmas eve, Bucks Fizz with breakfast, wine with dinner, Baileys, brandy… the list goes on! So, do try to keep tabs on how much you are drinking, and intersperse alcoholic drinks with soft ones.

3.Don’t give yourself a Christmas stuffing!

Recent research suggests that we consume around 3,000 calories in our Christmas dinner – more than the entire recommended daily intake for a grown man! This huge feast not only contributes to weight gain but also to indigestion and heartburn – not to mention lethargy for the rest of the day, reducing the chances of you burning much of it off. Instead of gorging yourself on Christmas dinner, eat a normal-sized meal and then take a 20-minute break to see if you are still hungry (it takes this long for the brain to register that the stomach is full). The chances are, you’ll realise you’ve had enough.

4.Keep colds at bay

Colds are rife at Christmas, partly because many of us travel around the country, exposing ourselves – and others – to different cold viruses. Minimize your risks by maintaining a healthy immune system (eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep and not smoking will help), so you are more able to fight off any viruses.

5.Don’t stress

‘Tis the season to be jolly’ but jolly is the last thing many of us feel with overspending, cooking, cleaning, endless ‘to do’ lists and visitors we could do without. Try to keep a sense of humor and proportion. Is it really the end of the world if the carrots are overcooked or if the mantelpiece is a bit dusty? Do you really care about Auntie Mary’s disapproval of the fact that you and your partner are living together and aren’t married? Remember, Christmas is just one day out of 365 and it isn’t worth stressing over.

6.Eat fruit

Let’s be honest, most of us get through the entire Christmas period eating no more fruit than the satsuma in the Christmas stocking. It just doesn’t really feature on the Christmas menu. But at this time of late nights, overindulging and partying, it’s more important than ever to get your vitamins and minerals, to help you stay in good health. Ensure that your Christmas shopping list enables you to fill up the fruit bowl and get your recommended daily portions of fruit and veg. (And no, mulled wine doesn’t count as one portion!)

7.Do something for others

It’s hard to avoid the consumerism that has overtaken Christmas in the western world, but it doesn’t all have to be about giving or receiving gifts. Try to do something for others this festive season, whether it’s baking some extra mince pies for an elderly neighbor, inviting an acquaintance who doesn’t have family around them to your home or helping out with a local Christmas fete or carol service.

8.Think before you eat

Christmas is a time of plenty, and with nuts, chocolates, mince pies and cheese straws wherever you look, it would be rather Scrooge-like to suggest that you don’t eat any treats over the festive period! But rather than mindlessly popping whatever is in front of you in your mouth, spend a moment thinking about whether you really want it, or are just eating it because it’s there.

9.Engage your brain

Instead of switching off in front of the TV, keep your mind active by playing games like Trivial Pursuit or Charades. This is also a great way of getting everyone together. If you aren’t a ‘game’ person, engage your mind by setting up any new gadgets, such as Play stations, iPads, mobile phones or laptops.

10.Be a careful cook

If your Christmas duties include cooking the dinner, you won’t be delighted to hear that according to the Food Standards Agency, December is one of the most common months for people to get food poisoning. To minimise the risks, don’t leave food out all day. Put out small amounts at a time, so that what is on the table has just been cooked or just come out of the fridge. Ideally, try to use any leftovers within 48 hours or freeze them. As for the turkey, always defrost it in the fridge, allowing 10 to 12 hours per kilo and do not wash the bird, as this can spread bacteria around, which will be destroyed by cooking anyway.
And most importantly, have a happy, healthy festive season!

CHRISTMAS  EDITION.
What Ladies should wear this festive season.
Deciding what to wear for Christmas is no easy task. Whatever your traditions, it's always nice to pick a stand-out outfit to mark the occasion but what if you have more than one special event lined up?
A bit of glitz and glamour is a must and can be incorporated in a number of different ways: if you usually relax around the house on Christmas Day enjoying indoor festivities, then choose a comfortable outfit - perhaps a sparkly top with slouchy jeans and snugly slippers.

If you dine out, or visit family, why not go all out? Team glitzy shoes with a smart, festive dress or jumpsuit. Make sure you consider outerwear and don't get caught out in the cold.

Whatever your plans, choosing what to wear for Christmas should be fun. Spend time getting ready on Christmas morning and use it as an excuse to steal some quality 'you time'. Just make sure you choose an outfit that will accommodate a few mulled wines and a big lunch...

Whether you're looking for a beautiful top, a dress that will make you feel a million dollars, or statement accessories to inject some wow
